Chaos Space Marine Troops choice

In the Chaos space marine codex we have 5 troop choices consisting of :
  • Chaos space marine squads
  • Khorne Berzerkers
  • Noise marines
  • Thousand Sons
  • Plague Marines
If your having trouble choosing what infantry to take I will help with just that.As each one has its own uses unless your going with a full fluff army e.g all thousand sons. First we will have a look at what each unit is made for.

      Chaos Space Marines

Want to buy Chaos Space Marines cheap?
The jack of all trades the cheapest of the troops choices with bolter, bolt pistol and chainsword it really can adapt depending on the situations.I Personally give them 2 plasma guns and a champion with power sword and maybe plasma pistol.I often give them mark of chaos undivided as it is the cheapest and with Ld 9 and rerolling don't expect them to run anywhere soon .However you really could tailor them to whatever you wanted them to do e.g A squad of ten or more with 2 flamers and mark of khorne and a champion with powersword and plasma pistol for some KILL, MAIM ,BURN action or alternatively a 10 man squad with heavy bolter, Plasma gun with Mark of nurgle and champion with Power fist(optional.)This would sit on an objective (hopefully in cover) with the power fist to receive charges.

      Khorne Berzerkers

The true assault specialists fearless, 3 attacks and Furious Charge makes a mess of anything its in close combat short of Assault terminators. Not many decisions to equip them with except for plasma pistols which are up to you. I recommend a Champion with Power fist as they need an extra push when facing of against Carnifexs or Rhinos etc. I would recommend a rhino as they need to get in CC fast.

      Noise Marines

The followers of Slaanesh are a funny one. They can be used in a few ways the first is to give all of them sonic blasters and then they are great infantry killers.Another way is to give them a champion with power sword and doomsiren and equip a few marines with sonic blasters this squad would be focused on assault and make best use out of I5 and an ap3 heavy flamer. The other way is give them a blastmaster and the rest sonicblasters this would sit on an objective and fire with the blast master and if anything got in 24 inches show it heavy 3. Whether you get a rhino depends on how you use them.

      Plague Marines

The legion of Nurgle T5 and feel no pain makes them incredibly durable . I would say that there best use is sitting on an objective (preferably in cover) and soaking up fire.On average it should take 20 guardsmen rapidfiring to kill one plague marine.I would give them plasma guns as feel no pain helps stop getting killed from gets hot.I3 isn't that great for combat but with T5,FeelNoPain and blight grenades they could easily take it.Getting a Champion is a mixed bag if I got some Plague marines i might just give them a powerfist for the sake of it.But its really up to you.

      Thousand sons

The thousand sons are a tricky one a 4+ Invun Save,Ap3 bolters and slow and purposeful.Obviously they pwn anything with a 3+ save which is about a third of all armies, Slow and purposeful make look like like a disadvantage ,but it means that you can always fire at 24 inches and you can charge after rapid firing. If you want to move fast i would recommend a rhino.A lot of people complain about not having the bolt pistol and chainsword. The thing to remember is Imperial space marines survive on it and having a sorcerer in the squad with 3 attacks certainly helps not to mention the 4= invun definitely helps against power weapons and fists etc. Close combat isn't something you should aim for but if you want to rapid fire your ap3 bolters then it will happen.
Equipping your sorcerer is important i would give either winds of chaos as your very close with if your in rapid fire range, Doombolt is also good as its slightly longer range.Bolt of change is a mixed bag it's your only form of Anti-tank but it means that the rest of the squad hasn't fired their bolters,Gift of chaos may not be the best choice as it's unlikely you'll be in range unless your in CC and may not work still although if you can change one model it could delay them and give you an extra round of rapid fire.Warptime could be useful when in close combat but i prefer winds of chaos.
The troop choices all have diffrent uses as you can see and some of the uses can overlap which i will address at a later date.I Hope you have enjoyed my guide! Look Forward to the Next one!
